The Europe Cup for classic teams is played at Douarnenez with six teams

VIC/DOUARNENEZ - The qualification groups for the European Cup for classic teams were played in Spain this weekend. The group planned at DBC Bochum was cancelled due to the miss of two teams. Therefore, was only played in Spain with four teams, three of which moved up to the final round.

The Ronchin and Elda teams cancelled their participation in Bochum. The two remaining teams were automatically advanced: DBC Bochum (Thomas Nockemann, Ludger Havlik, Sam Van Etten, Michel Van Silfhout) and Oissel (Johann Petit, Willy Gérimont, Xavier Grétillat, Pierre Martory).

In Spain, four teams played for three final places. Soissons (Olivier Careaux, Pascal Dessaint, Alain Remond), CB Vic (Esteve Mata, Raul Cuenca, Joan Espinasa), BC Hilden (Marküs Melerski, Maarten Janssen, Thomas Wildförster) and a Belgian team with Wesley Mathysen, Ronny Mathysen, Nico Van Hanegem finished in that order with 4 match points for the first three teams and 0 for the Belgians. The French and the Spaniards achieved a total of 12 individual points against 10 for the Germans.

The Douarnenez team (Grégory Le Deventec, Benoit Deziles-Legros, Raymund Swertz, Marek Faus) is the double title holder in the European Cup and is the organizer of the final from 13 to 15 March.

Group A: Douarnenez - Hilden - Oissel
Group B: Soissons - Vic - Bochum.
